Mark D. Slater

Mark advises entrepreneurs and families in the wealth management industry.  He is passionate about helping families come together behind a common vision to preserve the legacies they’ve worked so hard to build.

Mark has lived and breathed this field for over 25 years and brings a lot of experience to the family table. Not only does he come from a family of entrepreneurs, but he has developed detailed processes to help families navigate issues and achieve their goals and aspirations, be this professionalizing their governance or transitioning to the next generation.

His professional designations include Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA), Master Financial Advisor Philanthropy (MFA-P),  Personal Financial Planner (PFP) and Certified Investment Manager Analyst (CIMA).  He is also sought after for his expertise and has been interviewed for The Globe and Mail, guest lectured at the Telfer School of Management, and appeared on various podcasts and written numerous blogs on family governance topics.

Mark lives in Toronto with his wife and their four children. When he’s not advising on family dialogue and structure, he can be found strapping on running shoes, as this book suggests.

Mark is a Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA) and has two decades of experience working with family businesses, which shows: In his book, he draws on his vast work experience, provides valuable insights on common challenges that business families face, and offers relevant answers on how to deal with them.
